Pat Flanagan R.I.P.
CLG Tulach Sheasta extends sympathy to the Flanagan family of Newport on the passing of Pat, retired Garda Sergeant. Pat had a significant GAA involvement in his native Midleton, before being stationed in Newport where he quickly became involved in the activities of the local club. He wore the Newport jersey in the senior hurling championship in 1977, served as selector of the intermediate team in 1981 and of underage teams later in the decade. He was a member of the club committee in the early 80s and of the Juvenile Committee in the later eighties. Pat’s sons, Ian and Warren, won North Tipp underage championship medals in hurling and football with Newport. Pat Flanagan showed great pride in his Cork roots, was always engaging in any hurling discussions and was highly regarded in his role as a garda. He will be missed by all who knew him.
