Céad agus daichead bliain ag fás

Newport GAA marked a significant milestone on Wednesday, 22nd July, as members, players, volunteers and supporters gathered to celebrate the club’s 140th anniversary.
The club was honoured to welcome Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns, who addressed those in attendance and spoke passionately about the importance of community, belonging and the GAA. His visit helped make the occasion a memorable one for everyone present.
A special highlight of the evening was the recognition of Packie Jones, the last surviving member of Newport’s 1957 County Senior Hurling Championship-winning team. It was a fitting tribute to Packie’s outstanding contribution to Newport GAA and to the legacy of that historic team.
The club extends its sincere thanks to everyone who attended and to the many volunteers who worked behind the scenes to organise such a successful celebration. Seeing so many generations of the Newport GAA family together was a wonderful reminder of the pride, tradition and community spirit that have sustained the club for 140 years.
