County Junior ‘B’ Champions

Huge congratulations to our Junior ‘B’ hurlers who won the County Final on Saturday last in a serious battle against a gallant Ballina. Saturday was a day for heart and commitment in dreadful conditions. The heavy, slippery surface, gale force wind and driving rain made hurling difficult but well done to both teams who served up a nail-biting affair. Cormac Shanahan bagged his third goal two minutes into added time to give Newport their second county title in less than two weeks. Cormac’s fellow minor team-mate also contributed hugely to the win. Another minor, Luke McIntyre also contributed to the campaign. Well done to players and management. Enjoy the celebrations before going on to represent the county in the Munster competition in Kileedy.
