Awards Night
Searmanas na mBonn CLG Tulach Sheasta 2026: On Saturday, we held our annual awards evening in the Newport Community Centre. A large crowd attended to honour our winning teams from 2025. The U13, U15, and U17 squads received their North and County medals for both football and hurling, marking a very successful year for our juvenile teams. The theme of the night was “CLG Tulach Sheasta: Céad agus Daichead Bliain ag Fás,” celebrating the club’s 140-year milestone.
Presentations were made to outgoing GDC Pio Kennedy in acknowledgment of his dedicated work with the club. Club representatives provided updates on programs supporting juvenile and adult players, as well as progress on fundraising plans and our new development. Elaine Harrington also spoke about our successful careers event held at Newport College, noting that this initiative will continue to grow in the coming years.
Our new Intermediate manager, Seamus “Cheddar” Plunkett, addressed the attendees and encouraged all players to continue training hard to drive the club forward.
Finally, a special presentation was made to Fiona O’Regan, who attended with her husband Brian and their family from Athenry GAA. This was in recognition of the vital assistance they provided to one of our juvenile players who had a medical issue during a team trip last August.
