Cómhbhrón
CLG Tulach Sheasta extends sincere sympathy to the McCabe family, Ballymackeogh, following the death of Martin McCabe. Martin was a highly respected member of the local community and contributed widely through his involvement in farming circles, amateur dramatics and sporting pursuits. He played with Mulcair Rovers in the late 1950s and was a member of the club committee. His passing severs another of the few surviving links of the team of that era. He also served on the Juvenile Committee of Newport GAA in the 1980s. He was a keen follower of Newport and Tipperary teams and in particular enjoyed watching the fortunes of his sons, daughters and grandchildren perform on the playing field and on stage. Martin’s friendship, advice and knowledge will be missed by all who knew him. Déanaimid cómhbhrón lena chlann agus lena chairde. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam uasal.
The passing of Margaret Bond of Rockvale, Newport, reminds us of one of Newport’s most historic years. The Bond family ran the Five Alley Bar & Restaurant when Newport won the North Tipperary senior hurling championship in 1996. They hosted a pre-final function for players, officials and sponsors and the post-match dinner after the team’s victory in Nenagh. They also hosted a number of the club’s Lotto Draws. Margaret Bond was an avid and vocal Tipperary supporter and travelled widely in support of the Blue & Gold. Newport GAA Club extends sympathy to her family and friends. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a hanam.
