Under 15 Double

Huge congratulations to our U15A and U15C teams who were both crowned county football champions after their respective victories over Boherlahan- Dualla and Clonmel Og at the weekend. Well done boys.  We are very proud of ye!

The Under 15 A team comprehensively defeated Boherlahan in Templederry on Saturday evening. Once Ryan Byrne netted in the opening minute, Newport were on the front foot. A Bobby O’Connor goal after 4 minutes had them firmly in control. James Ryan raised a green flag midway through the half and Byrne went on to add another 3 goals to his tally, as he led his side to victory. The win was built on a great work ethic and strong tackling. Final score: Newport 6-10 Boherlahan-Dualla 1-5.

The C team also got off to a good start against Clonmel Óg in Bansha on Monday and had 1-1 on the board after 3 minutes, courtesy of Cillian Flynn and Scott McGrath. A Shay Coleman goal after 20 minutes helped them to a 2-6 to 1-1 interval lead. However, a Black Card for McGrath just before the break put them under pressure after the resumption and within 6 minutes the score stood at 2-6 to 3-1. Substitute, Tom O’Gorman entered the fray and changed the course of the game with a goal and a point. Coleman raised another green flag to seal the game. Sean Berkery, Gearóid Galvin and Frank Croffey stood out in defence. Final score: Newport 4-7 Clonmel Óg 3-1.
